The vineyard has been created in 1819 by Count Jean-Pierre de Montalivet, Minister of the Interior under Napoleon.
It was wiped out around 1880 by phylloxera and replanted by his grandson, Baron Arthur de Chabaud la Tour, renewed and marketed since 1966 by his great grandson, Count Georges de Choulot and is now still run by the family.

Count and Countess Georges de Choulot (6th generation) are the owners and the managers of the property "Le Chateau de Thauvenay".
The technical management is managed by a professional team (cellar and vineyard) respectful of the environment.
